$3,000 in aluminum missing from Valleyview storage compound
KAMLOOPS – Police are reporting about $3,000 worth of miscellaneous aluminum that went missing from a Valleyview storage compound in the early hours of yesterday morning.
"They entered through the chain-linked fence and they stole some miscellaneous aluminium pieces," said Kamloops RCMP Cpl. Cheryl Bush.
Aluminum river dock brackets and long aluminum pipes were reported missing from the 2300 block of the East Trans Canada Highway. Bush said stolen metal can be lucrative if it is sold to recycling centres.
"Metal theft is common because they take it to scrap metal places and exchange it for cash," Bush said.
A separate, similar incident happened at a Valleyview construction site in August.
