Defence: Police pushed woman in murder-for-hire case
WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – An attorney for a Florida woman accused of trying to hire a hit man to kill her husband told a jury that detectives were more interested in starring on “Cops” than pursuing justice.
Brian Claypool said during closing arguments of Dalia Dippolito’s retrial Monday that she was pushed into acts by the Boynton Beach police because they wanted to impress the “Cops” producers in town to record their reality TV show.
Prosecutor Craig Williams spent most of his closing argument playing hidden-camera videos that have been seen by millions of people on television and online. They show her telling an undercover officer she was “5,000 per cent sure” about killing her then-husband Michael Dippolito.
Her previous conviction was overturned on appeal.
