‘Major fire’ leaves three Kelowna residents homeless
KELOWNA – A late-night fire has left three people unharmed but staying with friends and relatives after their house sustained “major damage”, the Kelowna Fire Department says.
A 911 call at 12:50 a.m. sent fire crews to a two and a half storey house in the 700 block of Turner Road where they found the roof on fire, Platoon Capt. Tim Light said in a press release.
Crews “darkened” the roof-top fire before making their way inside to extinguish the interior fire, Light said.
The fire department responded with four engines and 18 crew members, Light added.
No cause of the fire is mentioned but Light said the public should make sure to "extinguish and discard smoking materials responsibly."
