Kelowna Rockets shutout Giants

KELOWNA – The Kelowna Rockets defeated the Vancouver Giants 5-0 on Saturday night at Prospera Place, remaining unbeaten at home this season with its ninth straight win on home ice.

Rookie goaltender Michael Herringer recorded his first Western Hockey League shut-out and Tyrell Goulbourne scored three times in the win, in front of 5,831 fans in Kelowna.

The win improved the Rockets record to 17-1-1-0 on the season and a perfect 9-0-0-0 at Prospera Place.

WHL goal scoring leader Rourke Chartier extended his league-high goal scoring streak to seven games with his 18th of the season while Justin Kirkland netted his eighth of the year.

The Rockets now begin a stretch of five straight games on the road beginning Tuesday in Spokane. Kelowna will then head to Prince George for a pair of games next weekend before a double-header in Victoria Nov. 18 and 19.

The Rockets next home games are Friday and Saturday Nov. 21 and 22 when they welcome the Portland Winterhawks to Prospera Place.
