White Sox slugger Adam Dunn may attend Oscars, had small role in ‘The Dallas Buyers Club’

GLENDALE, Ariz. – Adam Dunn might be headed to the Oscars.

The White Sox slugger had a small role as a bartender in “The Dallas Buyers Club” and has an invitation to Sunday’s Academy Awards in Los Angeles. The movie, starring Matthew McConaughey, has been nominated for six Oscars, including best picture.

Dunn says he would like to go if possible. Manager Robin Ventura says he has no problem with Dunn missing a day and thinks he should.

Said Ventura: “It’s a cool thing. That movie would not have been as good without him.”

If Dunn goes, he would probably play Sunday afternoon, Ventura said, and then be off Monday.
