Pythons die in Kelowna shed fire

KELOWNA – Fire investigators were on the scene of a shed fire in Kelowna Sunday morning looking for the cause of the suspicious blaze. RCMP are also investigating.

Firefighters responded to a 911 call about a cedar hedge fire at a home on Rhondda Court, a few blocks north of Okanagan College, at about 4 p.m. on Saturday.

They arrived to find a large shed and the hedge on fire, with a neighbour trying to put it out with a garden hose, according to platoon captain Steve Wallick.

Once the fire was out, firefighters found several dead python snakes in the shed, he says.

No word yet on what started the fire.

No damage estimate has been released.
