Manchester United slips to surprise 2-0 defeat to Olympiakos in last 16 of Champions League

PIRAEUS, Greece – Manchester United slumped to a 2-0 defeat to Olympiakos in the last 16 of the Champions League on Tuesday after Alejandro Dominguez and Joel Campbell scored in each half of the first leg match.

Argentine striker Dominguez broke the deadlock when he got his foot to a shot from Yiannis Maniatis in the 38th minute and turned the ball past goalkeeper David de Gea.

An uninspired United controlled the first half at Karaiskaki Stadium, but composure turned to complacency after the break when Campbell caught De Gea off guard with a well-placed shot in the 55th minute.

United coach David Moyes got no respite from his troubled season at home, as Wayne Rooney produced no threat and strike partner Robin van Persie missed the visitors’ best chance.
