Bundle up: Cold Arctic air on its way

THOMPSON-OKANAGAN – Winter is coming our way with a vengence as cold Arctic air rushes into the Southern Interior on Monday.

Environment Canada has issued a Special Weather Statement warning temperatures throughout the Okanagan and South Thompson will be five to ten degrees below seasonal normals.

Forecasters say by Tuesday, daytime highs will be below zero and the cold will hang around for most of the week.

A ridge of high pressure building over the Interior is to blame. The Central Interior started to see the mercury drop on Sunday as the cold air moves south.

There is good news.

The meteorologists at Environment Canada tell us we can expect lots of sunshine along with the wintery temperatures.
