TORONTO – Defenceman Aaron Ekblad sat out Team North America’s World Cup of Hockey game against Russia on Monday night due to an upper body injury.

Ekblad was knocked into the boards by a hard hit from Leo Komarov in the North Americans’ 4-1 win Sunday night.
Media reports said that Ekblad was suffering from a concussion and would miss the rest of the tournament but team generalmanager Peter Chiarelli denied it.
“I’m not going to comment on that,” said Chiarelli in a live TV interview on Sportsnet. “He’s day to day and I’ll leave it at that.”
