West Kelowna RCMP on hunt for assault suspect

KELOWNA – A fight involving a group of people in West Kelowna yesterday afternoon left a teenager injured.

RCMP say at around 1:40 p.m. yesterday, July 11, officers responded to multiple reports of a fight between numerous people in the parking lot of an unidentified business in the 2400 block of Dobbin Road.

The fight escalated and a West Kelowna teenager was assaulted with a weapon, suffering non life-threatening injuries to his upper arm, according to an RCMP media release.

Police are not saying what kind of weapon was used in the assault.

Despite a search of the area for a suspect, including the use of an RCMP helicopter, the suspect got away on a bicycle stolen from the back of a parked pickup truck in the 3800 block of Brown Road, police say.

If you witnessed the incident, and have not yet spoken to police, you are asked to contact the West Kelowna RCMP detachment at 250-768-2880.
