YOUR PHOTOS: Kamloops’s fast-moving East Shuswap Road fire

KAMLOOPS – A fast-moving grass fire moved up a large hillside in Kamloops yesterday evening as firefighters tried to slow the growing blaze.

At the last update, B.C. Wildfire Service estimated the fire off of East Shuswap Road in Kamloops was roughly 380 hectares. It started out as a small grass fire just before noon yesterday, July 12, but grew exponentially in just a few hours, forcing the evacuation of six homes.

The evacuees have since been allowed home and the smoke from the fire is no longer hanging around the Kamloops valley, but winds today are still posing a risk for firefighters.

Some of the best pictures taken of the fire itself, and firefighting efforts, came from iNFOnews.ca readers.
