New wildfire ignites south of Kamloops

KAMLOOPS – A wildfire has ignited by Stump Lake south of Kamloops.

B.C. Wildfire service is currently responding to a one-hectare wildfire off of Highway 5A, according to a tweet sent out today, July 13.

Six firefighters are currently on site and the fire is burning between the lake and the highway which is acting as a natural fire guard and aiding crews in their progress so far.

There are currently no road closures or delays at this time, according to B.C. Wildfire service. However, motorists who wish to travel in the area are asked to check Drive B.C. for road updates.
