Former Gov. Chris Christie joins drug recovery board

TRENTON, N.J. – Former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie is taking on a new role in his efforts to help fight opioid addiction.

Christie is joining the board of the Beach House Center for Recovery in Juno Beach, Florida. He’ll serve as executive chairman, helping to develop policy and related matters.

A spokeswoman says Christie will be “reasonably compensated for his time,” but declined to provide specific details. She said Christie will be in Florida for some meetings and other work.

The Republican left office in January after serving two terms as New Jersey’s governor. He dedicated much of his final year in office to the epidemic and also led President Donald Trump’s panel on opioid addiction.
