Coroner IDs man found dead, stuck in warehouse burglar bars

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Authorities have identified a man with a history of burglary convictions as the person whose decaying body was found stuck in the burglar bars of an Alabama warehouse.

News outlets report that the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office on Monday identified the man as 54-year-old Dexter Leon Armstrong of Birmingham.

Cool Breeze Inc. President Court VanScyoc says he discovered the body June 22 after stopping by the warehouse and noticing an odour. Armstrong was halfway through the window. It is unclear how he died.

Citing court records, Al.com reports (http://bit.ly/28ZqDlY ) that Armstrong was convicted of felony burglary in 2011 and sentenced to 20 years in prison with three to serve. He was released in August 2014. He also was convicted of burglary in 2007, 2003, 2001 and 1993.
