New Jersey ‘Real Housewives’ star, husband appear in US court in mortgage fraud case

NEWARK, N.J. – Husband-and-wife members of the “Real Housewives of New Jersey” cast are in court for a hearing in their fraud case.

Teresa and Giuseppe “Joe” Giudice arrived at the federal courthouse in Newark on Tuesday without speaking to reporters.

They pleaded not guilty last year to dozens of charges including bank fraud, wire fraud and bankruptcy fraud.

The couple is accused of exaggerating their income while applying for loans before the show debuted in 2009, the hiding their fortunes in a bankruptcy filing after their first season aired.

They are also accused of submitting fraudulent mortgage and loan applications and fabricating tax returns and W-2 forms.

Joe Giudice also allegedly failed to file federal tax returns for several years beginning in 2004.
