REMINDER: No campfires anywhere in Kamloops Fire District
KAMLOOPS – As of noon today, campfires are prohibited throughout the Kamloops Fire Centre’s jurisdiction.
With several large fires already burning in the district, and hot and dry weather conditions expected to continue, the fire danger rating for the Kamloops zone is now moderate to high.
The fire danger ratings are expected to rise later this week.
An open burning ban already exists in the Kamloops Fire Centre. Other prohibited activities as of noon today are fireworks, burn barrels and tiki torches among others.
The ban applies to all public and private land unless specified otherwise by such things as local government bylaws. Check with local authorities prior to starting any fire.
Last year the Kamloops campfire ban was implemented on July 7.
