Nigeria police: Bombers attack 2 churches in N. Nigeria city strained by religious tensions

LAGOS, Nigeria – A police official says bombers have attacked two churches in a northern Nigerian city.

Kaduna state police spokesman Aminu Lawan says the attacks targeted two churches in different parts of the northern city of Zaria Sunday morning.

He could not immediately say if anyone had been killed or how many people may have been hurt.

A Nigerian Red Cross report said that rescuers are still trying to get victims to nearby hospitals.

The report said young people have started protesting in the city that has been strained by religious tensions.
