‘Orphan Black,’ ‘Enemy’ big nominees at Short-hosted Canadian Screen Awards

TORONTO – The sci-fi clone saga “Orphan Black” enters this evening’s Canadian Screen Awards having already won a leading eight trophies.

The Space serial took the lead among television nominees at an industry gala where awards were won by supporting actor Jordan Gavaris, supporting actress Maria Doyle Kennedy and guest performer Natalie Lisinska.

The TMN/Movie Central comedy “Less Than Kind” and “Degrassi” were also successful early, picking up four awards apiece.

Winners in the marquee film and TV categories will be announced at a star-studded bash in Toronto tonight.

Denis Villeneuve’s surreal film “Enemy” leads the film contenders.

Martin Short will host the gala, to be broadcast on CBC-TV.
