Top-ranked CFL prospect Duvernay-Tardif won’t be attending league’s combine
TORONTO – He’s the top-ranked prospect for the 2014 CFL draft but McGill offensive lineman Laurent Duvernay-Tardif won’t be strutting his stuff at the league’s evaluation camp.
Two CFL sources requesting anonymity said the six-foot-five, 315-pound native of St. Hilaire, Que., will be holding his own pro day workouts instead.
The CFL will hold its annual combine March 21-23 in Toronto.
Duvernay-Tardif, a converted defensive lineman, finished the season atop the CFL scouting bureau’s list of the top Canadian prospects for this year’s draft.
But the 23-year-old has also garnered plenty of interest south of the border. McGill’s website said at least eight NFL teams either expressed interest or requested information on Duvernay-Tardif this past season.
Duvernay-Tardif is a two-time All-Canadian who captured the 2013 Metras trophy as Canadian university football’s top lineman.
Duvernay-Tardif was invited to participate in the 89th East-West Shrine game Jan. 18 in St. Petersburg, Fla.
