NEW YORK, N.Y. – Those repeated ads about a dead boy returning to his father after 32 years struck a nerve with television viewers. They helped ABC’s new drama “Resurrection” to a strong debut.
The Nielsen ratings company says “Resurrection’s” Sunday night debut was the most-watched show on what is generally the most popular night of television. The show beat even AMC’s powerhouse “The Walking Dead.” It’s the best opening for a Sunday night drama on ABC since 2006.
Fox’s “Cosmos” also did well for its debut Sunday. But the network’s former powerhouse, “American Idol,” continues to struggle, particularly compared with NBC’s “The Voice.”
CBS was the most popular prime-time network, led by “The Big Bang Theory.”
