MIDWAY, B.C. – Mounties in B.C.’s southern Interior say they have arrested a 43-year-old man following a Molotov cocktail attack on a local detachment.
Staff Sgt. Dan Seibel says an officer inside the Midway detachment near the U.S. border heard something hit a window and saw a bright flash early Monday.
Seibel says the officer looked outside and saw a male pick up a flaming bottle and throw it at an unoccupied police vehicle, which then caught on fire.
Seibel says the officer went outside and confronted the suspect, who jumped into a running vehicle and fled.
But the Mountie jotted down the licence plate, and Seibel says a 43-year-old man from Grand Forks, B.C., is now in custody.
Seibel says the vehicle and detachment sustained only minor damage.
