PHOENIX – Aaron Hill became the fifth player in Arizona Diamondbacks history to hit for the cycle after homering in the seventh inning against the Seattle Mariners on Monday night.
Hill hit a single in the first inning off Hector Noesi, a triple in the third and a double off the Mariners starter in the fifth. He completed the majors’ second cycle this season with a one-out solo homer in the seventh off Shawn Kelley.
New York Mets outfielder Scott Hairston had the other cycle, against the Colorado Rockies on April 27.
The cycle was the first by a Diamondbacks player since Kelly Johnson did it against San Francisco on July 23, 2010.
It was the first against the Mariners since Oakland’s Miguel Tejada on Sept. 29, 2001, at Seattle.
