Police investigate stabbing, reports say Russian diplomat injured

OTTAWA – A Russian diplomat has been injured in a stabbing incident, media reports say.

Police say they are investigating after receiving a report of an injured person at an apartment building near the Russian embassy.

Reports indicate the stabbing took place in the lobby of the building, but at least one radio station says it has confirmed the Russian ambassador was not involved.

The embassy says it is aware of the incident, but declined to comment further.

Police and embassy officials were expected to release more information later today.

It isn’t known what sparked the stabbing, but the victim’s injuries are considered non life-threatening.

One man was reportedly taken into custody at the scene.
