Connecticut boarding school faces 2 age discrimination suits
MIDDLEBURY, Conn. – A private boarding school for girls in Connecticut is facing a pair of age discrimination lawsuits.
The Republican-American (http://bit.ly/2mglF7w ) reports that officials at the Westover School in Middlebury say they terminated the plaintiffs for legitimate reasons and not because of age.
Nekije Ismaili was fired from her job as head of housekeeping in December 2015 after the school accused her of stealing and eating a pack of Ramen noodles. Her attorney says it’s hard to believe the 56-year-old woman was let go over a minor offence after 19 years of employment without any prior incident.
The executor of the late Marguerite Simpson’s estate claims that Westover’s business manager asked Simpson to retire at age 78 because she couldn’t handle new technology.
