Elvis Presley’s 1974 return-to-Memphis concert featured in new 2 CD release

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Elvis Presley’s concert in Memphis in March 1974, when he returned to the city during a U.S. tour to perform in his hometown for the first time in 13 years, is featured in a new two-CD set.

RCA Records and Legacy Recordings say “Elvis Recorded Live On Stage in Memphis” will go on sale Tuesday.

The set includes a re-mastered version of the full concert, including songs that weren’t on the original July 7, 1974 release on vinyl. The 1974 album featured the song “How Great Thou Art,” which would win Presley a gospel Grammy.

Presley lived in his Graceland home in Memphis until he died on Aug. 16, 1977.

The set also includes a recently located recording of a test run for a show in Richmond, Va.
