Mounties charge former Senate policy adviser with fraud and breach of trust

MONTREAL – The RCMP has filed five charges against a former Senate policy adviser related to the awarding of contracts.

The charges against Hubert Pichet include fraud and breach of trust.

Pichet was a Senate policy adviser between 2007 and 2011.

The Mounties said in a statement today that Pichet claimed he could influence the awarding of contracts.

They also say he allegedly received money from companies wanting to do business with the government.

The 58-year-old Pichet is to appear in court on May 1.
