SAINT JOHN, N.B. – Switzerland remained in first place at the women’s world curling championship with an 8-2 win over Latvia in Monday’s early draw.
Bina Feltscher’s rink improved to 4-0 with the win and moved into sole possession of first place when Sweden beat the United States 8-5.
The Swiss put the Latvians away with three points in the eighth end. Latvia fell to 1-3.
Sweden, the U.S. and Russia are tied for second at 3-1. Russia kept pace with a 7-3 win over Germany.
In the other Draw 6 match, China beat South Korea 8-6. Both teams are 2-2.
Canada’s Rachel Homan was idle in the morning draw. The Ottawa rink will look to improve on its 2-1 record when it faces Denmark and the U.S. later Monday.
