Retired B.C. teacher charged with 5 counts related to sexual abuse of students

COQUITLAM, B.C. – A 60-year-old retired teacher who has already pleaded guilty to sexual exploitation now faces five charges related to sexual abuse of students at a middle school in Port Coquitlam, B.C.

RCMP say Russell Read worked at several schools, including Citadel Middle School, where he also coached rugby, volleyball and choir.

Mounties recently received reports from three alleged victims who were taught by Read at the school between 1996 and 2004.

Cpl. Jamie Chung says investigators believe there may be more victims.

Police are calling on anyone who may have been abused by Read to contact them.

In December, Read pleaded guilty to sexually exploiting two young people about a decade ago, while he was still teaching.
