TORONTO – Canada remains 10th in the latest FIFA women’s worldsoccer rankings released Friday.
There was no movement at the top, with the top-ranked Americans and 12 other countries unchanged. But Spain moved up one place to No. 14 and the Swiss climbed four spots to their highest-ever position of 15th. Iceland also jumped four places to No. 16.
While two of Canada’s pool rivals at the Rio Olympics — No. 2 Germany and No. 5 Australia — were unchanged in the rankings, Zimbabwe climbed two places to No. 93.
Bulgaria re-entered the rankings at No. 69 after dropping out in March while Argentina, Guam, Pakistan, Afghanistan and Bhutan slipped out due to inactivity, leaving 132 teams in the ranking.
