Canada downs Latvia 8-4, keeps pace with leaders at world curling championships

SAINT JOHN, N.B. – Canada’s Rachel Homan downed Latvia 8-4 at the women’s world curling championship Tuesday.

Homan’s Ottawa rink improved to 5-1 and is tied with Sweden in the standings.

Switzerland is the only unbeaten team remaining at five wins and no losses.

The Canadians face Scotland on Tuesday night.

Canada scored two points in the first and third ends and added a steal of one in the fourth to take control of the game against Latvia.

The top four teams at the conclusion of the round robin Thursday advance to playoffs.
