Suspect with ‘horrendous record’ busted in Penticton: RCMP

PENTICTON – A suspect wanted for a series of break-ins and thefts was arrested in Penticton last week.

RCMP say officers with the Targeted Enforcement Unit caught up with Ian James MacDonald, 38, on Aug. 8 in south Penticton, and after a short struggle, took him into custody.

MacDonald is believed to be responsible for a series of break and enters and the theft of a vehicle, according to an RCMP media release. He is facing a number of property related charges and has over 100 criminal convictions on his record.

“It’s not often you come across a bad guy with that horrendous a record,” Cpl. Scott VanEvery with the Targeted Enforcement Unit says in the release. “He is a very brazen criminal so obviously it’s a relief getting this guy off the streets.”
