Kelowna mayor welcomes Pride Week festival and march
KELOWNA – Mayor Colin Basran ended one of the few remaining council meetings before the municipal election with a reminder to residents of Kelowna Pride Week.
Basran has been a strong Pride supporter and he urged residents to join him, and other councillors, at Stuart Park in downtown Kelowna for the Pride March and Festival in the Park.
“We encourage everyone to join us to champion inclusivity, acceptance and diversity in our community,” Basran said at the close council's meeting today, Aug. 13.
Pride Week affiliate events begin Tuesday, Aug. 14 and go all week culminating with the Trans March and Social on Thursday, Kelowna’s Next Drag Superstar Competition and the FruitCake: Official After Party on Friday.
The Pride March and festival go on Saturday.
