Canada angling for playoff position at women’s world curling championship

SAINT JOHN, N.B. – Canada is among five countries jockeying for playoff position on the final day of the round robin at the Ford Women’s World Curling Championship.

Four will get in, but a tie for fourth would be solved by a tiebreaker game.

Canada, Switzerland, Russia and Sweden have eight wins each and South Korea is still in the hunt at seven wins and a game to play.

Canada’s Rachel Homan had the morning draw off and concludes the preliminary round against China and the Swedes.

Sweden doubled China 10-5, Russia defeated Switzerland 8-5 and South Korea beat the United States 8-6 in important games for the playoff contenders. Germany downed Latvia 6-4 in another game.
