Jury selection underway in lawsuit by Vegas headline comedian George Wallace over leg injury

LAS VEGAS, Nev. – Comedian George Wallace is in a Las Vegas courtroom seeking damages from a resort and a credit card company for a leg injury he received when he tripped over electrical wiring while performing in 2007.

Jury selection continued Thursday in Clark County District Court for the trial of the lawsuit filed in 2009.

It claims Wallace suffered a ruptured Achilles tendon during a private show at the Bellagio resort for an HSBC Card Services Inc. corporate audience.

Wallace is seeking unspecified damages of more than $50,000 for the injury and lost income.

The companies deny responsibility.

In court documents, attorneys for Bellagio say Wallace was careless.

The 61-year-old Wallace has been a headline entertainer since 2004 at the Flamingo hotel-casino on the Strip.
