Police will release new Kurt Cobain photos; re-examination of death found nothing new
SEATTLE – Seattle police next month plan to release new photographs discovered during a re-examination of the death of Nirvana’s Kurt Cobain.
Police spokeswoman Renee Witt told The Seattle Times on Thursday that the fresh look at the case found nothing new. She said a cold case detective “dug up the files and had another look” but there was nothing to report.
Cobain’s body was discovered in Seattle on April 8, 1994. An investigation determined he killed himself. Witt says in addition to releasing photographs, police will answer questions on the Cobain case next month, the 20th anniversary of his death.
Cobain, who was 27 when he died, helped popularize the Pacific Northwest’s heavy, muddy “grunge” rock, along with bands like Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Alice in Chains and Mudhoney.
