Man faces trial in fatal shooting of horse that was pulling buggy with Amish family inside
LANCASTER, Pa. – A man from Pennsylvania’s Amish country is headed to trial in a drive-by shooting that killed a horse pulling a buggy with a family inside.
Defendant Timothy Antonio Diggs Jr.’s sister said Thursday he said he shot the horse “for fun.”
The Lancaster County man is charged with reckless endangerment, cruelty to animals and a weapons offence. His arraignment is April 11. He was jailed Dec. 3 on unrelated burglary charges and couldn’t be reached for comment.
An Amish man told police Nov. 23 that as a car passed his buggy he heard a firecracker noise but didn’t know it was a gunshot and continued to his farm. There he discovered his horse was shot in the side. The horse died before a vet arrived.
The Amish couple and their three children in the buggy were unhurt.
