Three years on the lam ends as Manitoba fugitive is arrested in B.C.

LANGLEY, B.C. – A man wanted for a raft of serious crimes in Manitoba is on his way home to that province to face justice.

RCMP in Langley, B.C., say they first noticed Christopher Watt during a traffic stop in the Vancouver suburb on March 4.

Further checking revealed Watt was wanted on warrants effective only in Manitoba, linked to alleged offences in 2011 and 2012 in Selkirk and Oakbank.

Watt faces seven charges ranging from impaired driving causing death and criminal negligence causing death, to a single count of fraud over $5,000.

Langley Mounties requested all the warrants be extended to B.C., and Watt was arrested last week and returned to Manitoba on Thursday.

RCMP say since the launch of B.C.’s Provincial Fugitive Return in September 2011, 59 people, arrested in the province, but wanted in other provinces, have been sent back to those jurisdictions to be held accountable.
