Party time: Obama hosting star-studded White House birthday

WASHINGTON – It’s party time at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, and President Barack Obama is expecting a crowd for his 55th birthday bash.

First lady Michelle Obama is hosting the party at the White House on Friday evening. The White House says it’s a private event, and reporters and photographers won’t be allowed in.

The White House is keeping a tight lid on the guest list and says only that a “large number” of friends and family will attend. But an array of boldface-name celebrities, Hollywood stars and political figures are expected. In 2014, singer Beyonce was among the celebrities at Mrs. Obama’s 50th birthday party at the White House.

The White House says the Obamas are covering the costs of the party out of their own pocket.
