Evacuation alert rescinded for Gottfriedsen Mountain wildfire

The wildfire no longer threatens life and properties in the area.

Yesterday afternoon the Thompson-Nicola REgional District Emergency Operations Centre advised that the evacuation alert for the Electoral area “M” was rescinded. This area is also known as Beautiful Nicola Valley.

An evacuation alert was issued the evening of Aug. 9, 2018 and was rescinded at about 3:34 p.m. yesterday, Aug. 18, 2018.

Properties no longer under evacuation alert include camping areas north of Highway 97C including Pennask Lake, Mellin Lake, Barton Lake and Eileen Lake.

The Gottfriedsen Mountain wildfire is about 633 hectares in size and is currently active but being held.
