Ambulance officials quit following investigation into personnel issue

KAMLOOPS, B.C. – The two top officials in charge of ambulance services in British Columbia have quit.

Health Minister Terry Lake confirms Michael MacDougall and Les Fisher have resigned following a third-party investigation into what the Provincial Health Services Authority said was a personnel matter.

MacDougall and Fisher were put on paid leave in December pending the outcome of the probe.

The Provincial Health Services Authority is not providing details about the investigation, but Chair Wynne Powell says there was no criminal or fraudulent activity involved.

Powell says a report from the probe was submitted a few days ago, and after reviewing it, MacDougall and Fisher decided to resign.

MacDougall was the executive vice president of BC Emergency Health Services, and Fischer was the chief operating officer of BC Ambulance Service. (CHNL)
