Juno hosts discuss preparation, Robin Thicke controversy in advance of gala

WINNIPEG – Singers Johnny Reid and Serena Ryder say this weekend’s Juno Awards will be the first time they’ve hosted anything.

They admit to a few nerves, but note they’re used to being in front of large crowds.

This year’s awards are facing controversy — an online petition has been launched to remove Robin Thicke from the show as a nominee and a performer.

Thicke has been under fire over lyrics in his song “Blurred Lines,” which many have said are sexist and demeaning to women.

Ryder says she has written lyrics that are racy, and there are many different opinions as to what’s right and wrong.

Reid says he doesn’t know what all the song’s lyrics mean, but that he likes the music.
