Possible landslide closes off stretch of B.C. highway through Lake Country

LAKE COUNTRY, B.C. – A stretch of Highway 97 near the Okanagan community of Lake Country has been closed due to the threat of a possible landslide.

RCMP Const. Kris Clark says no debris has reached the highway, but the section has been closed as officials assess the situation.

Pelmewash Parkway, an old highway that runs along the west side of Wood Lake, has also been blocked off for assessment.

Traffic is being diverted to Oyama Road on the east side of Wood Lake.

Lake Country is between Kelowna and Vernon. (CKIZ)
