PRINCE GEORGE – The Kelowna Rockets picked up their sixth straight victory with a 6-3 win over the Prince George Cougars on Friday night at the CN Centre in Prince George.
It was another big offensive night for the WHL's leading goal scorer Rourke Chartier, who added his 21st and 22nd goals of the season. Chartier, who increased his goal scoring streak to nine games, also added an assist on the night, putting him into a tie with teammate Nick Merkley for the most points in the WHL.
Tyson Baillie scored two goals in his return to the team from the Subway Super Series, while Kris Schmidli and Rodney Southam each added third period insurance markers to ice the victory for the Rockets.
After giving up an early goal, Jackson Whistle made 20 saves to notch his 15th win on the season in net for the Rockets.
The win improved Kelowna's record to 19-1-1-0 on the season and 2-0-0-0 during their current five game road swing and will play the Cougars again Saturday night in Prince George, before heading over to Victoria for a two game set Tuesday and Wednesday.
