ELSMERE, Del. – A Delaware man is under arrest on charges that he detonated a bomb outside the home of his estranged wife’s family.
Mark Consiglio was arrested late Monday in connection with an explosion that went off shortly after midnight, breaking a window and leaving a hole in the yard but causing no injuries.
The News Journal of Wilmington reports that 23-year-old William Ivone ran outside after the blast and saw a familiar figure running away. Police and other agencies then went to Consiglio’s home, where they disabled three more “explosive devices,” according to Assistant State Fire Marshal Michael Chionchio.
Amy Consiglio told the ABCNews affiliate WPVI that her husband has been threatening her ever since they separated months ago.
Consiglio, 48, had been released on $500 bail in February on orders to have no contact with his estranged wife after threatening to “put a bullet” in her head, the newspaper reported. Court records show he was released despite several arrests over the years for threats, assaults and harassment, including guilty pleas in 2004 and 2009 to charges of terroristic threatening.
Consiglio now faces three new counts of manufacturing, possession and use of an explosive device. It wasn’t immediately clear if he has a lawyer.
