Nickelodeon reviving ‘Rocko’s Modern Life’ for TV special

LOS ANGELES – The outgoing Australian wallaby Rocko and his quirky friends are returning to TV.

Nickelodeon announced plans Thursday to resurrect the 1990s animated series “Rocko’s Modern Life” for a one-hour TV movie. The series originally ran from 1993 to 1996.

“Rocko’s Modern Life” creator Joe Murray will serve as the movie’s executive producer. He says in a statement that his characters “still have a lot to say” about modern life in the 21st century.

The announcement comes on the heels of Nick reviving several of its shows from the ’90s. The network announced it was bringing back the game show “Legends of the Hidden Temple” as an action-adventure TV movie and the animated series “Hey Arnold!” as a TV movie. Both are set to debut in 2017.
