Summery conditions in the Okanagan aren’t expected to last
KELOWNA – There’s a return to summer conditions in the Okanagan forecast, but enjoy it while you can, because it may not last.
Environment Canada Meteorologist Lisa Ervin says sunny conditions are forecast for the Okanagan today, Sept. 4, with a high of 23 Celsius.
A change in wind direction to a more southerly flow tomorrow will see temperatures in the Okanagan rise 25 C on Wednesday and 27 C on Thursday, before a low pressure system is expected to reach the city on Friday.
The front is expected to bring a major change in weather, just in time for the weekend.
Expect a mix of cloudy conditions and a high of 26 C on Friday, with a 30 per cent chance of showers and possible thunderstorms. Saturday is expected to be rainy with a high of 19 C.
Ervin says the preliminary long term forecast for fall is for the return of El Nino conditions, with overall temperatures anticipated to be above normal for the three month period between September and November.
