Quebec Remparts edge Chicoutimi as host for 2015 Memorial Cup tournament

MONTREAL – The Quebec Remparts will play host to the 2015 MasterCard Memorial Cup tournament.

Paul Wilson, president of the selection committee, announced Thursday that the Remparts were chosen over the Chicoutimi Sagueneens to host the annual major junior hockey championship tournament in May, 2015.

It’s scheduled to be the last major event held at the 15,000-seat Pepsi Colisee before a new arena is completed in Quebec City.

“The committee’s decision to select Quebec to host the event is based on the fact that their bid had all the elements from top to bottom to convince us that they would present an excellent 2015 MasterCard Memorial Cup: great hockey team, good organizing committee and superior installations,” Wilson said in a statement.

Joining Wilson on the selection committee were Andre L. Baril, Hugues Constantineau, Patrick Lalime and Michel Cote.

The Memorial Cup host alternates between the three major junior leagues. The London Knights of the Ontario Hockey League will host this year’s tournament.
