Joffrey Lupul an unexpected scratch for Maple Leafs against Bruins

TORONTO – Joffrey Lupul was a late scratch for the Toronto Maple Leafs in another must-win game, this time against the Boston Bruins.

Lupul did not take the ice for pre-game warm-ups, and line rushes included David Clarkson and Jerry D’Amigo sliding around to fill the hole.

It was well-known that right-winger Phil Kessel was dealing with a bruised right foot, but Lupul sitting out came as a surprise.

The 30-year-old has 22 goals and 22 assists this season.
