Hockey Canada announces Nicholson’s tenure as president and CEO will end June 1
TORONTO – Hockey Canada has made official what Bob Nicholson confirmed Thursday: he is stepping down as president and CEO.
The move is effective June 1.
Nicholson, Hockey Canada board of directors chairman Jim Hornell and COO Scott Smith will speak to reporters at a 12:45 p.m. ET news conference in Toronto.
In a statement announcing the resignation, Nicholson said he had “mixed emotions … but I think the time is right for me personally to step down.”
Nicholson, 60, had been in the job for more than 15 years.
Hockey Canada said its board of directors will “establish a process and timeline for the naming of a new president and CEO over the coming months.”
