No fines for B.C. pub at centre of Rob Ford’s alleged after-hours drinking
VANCOUVER – British Columbia’s liquor regulator says there will be no fines or suspensions levied against a Vancouver-area pub that was at the centre of allegations involving Toronto Mayor Rob Ford.
Ford visited the Vancouver area for a funeral in February, and it wasn’t long before photos and videos of him surfaced on social media.
The Toronto Star newspaper published a story that alleged the Foggy Dew pub in Coquitlam, east of Vancouver, served Ford drinks after the bar’s last-call time of 2 a.m.
B.C.’s liquor control and licensing branch launched an investigation, which has now concluded there is not enough evidence to proceed against the bar.
The branch’s general manager, Douglas Scott, says in a statement that the Foggy Dew will not face any fines or suspensions, and the file is now closed.
The allegations of after-hours drinking happened the same night Ford was ticketed by the RCMP for jaywalking.
